We are three months into 2025 and things are hitting off in a big way. It has been a while since I've been active on this site. Major shifts have occurred and with them my approach to this site, my art, and business of art altogether.
It all started last year, in September, when I started a junk removal business with a fellow artist. Because we were working more, we weren't able to paint as much, or at least not as often. When we did paint, we had to make it count. I am no longer limited to back alley tags and "street bombing". Can control and precise focus, while practicing more complex patterns is my goal. Also...characters!
Our projects had to be on a grander scale to be worthwhile the time. Luckily for us, we were invited by HartTV, of Hartford, Connecticut, to do graffiti art at Heaven Skate Park. This experience put a fire under me to make better art and be more prestigious about it.
All around the same time, the call of school was beckoning. It's time to enroll. This time, for business. And it was all put together by one quote:
"If you want to be a philosopher-king, become a king first, not the other way around."
It is hard to make a name in art and even harder to make a living when you don't have a name. Graffiti was good guerilla marketing but it can only get me so far underground. I need to get my capital up, then focus on art, not the other way around.
So where does that put my other projects? What about traditional painting? Well, that's the best part! They synchronize with synergy.
It started as a way to paint without direction or intention. A way to express myself without the stress of having to be appealing to the tastes of others. Art for myself. Then it developed into a style.
As far as my other projects go, some will be combined for convenience sake, and others will be adapted to the new business model. BONUS POINTS when we use "junk" from the job as material for art.
